Flynn’s Pharmacy is proud to introduce the new HSE Common Conditions Service, giving you faster access to expert healthcare right here in your local pharmacy.

 

This service allows our specially trained pharmacists to assess and treat a range of everyday health conditions without you needing to visit your GP.

Following a private and confidential consultation, your pharmacist can:

  • Assess your symptoms
  • Provide expert advice on self-care
  • Recommend treatment
  • Supply medication
  • Prescribe certain prescription-only medicines where appropriate

All treatment is provided in line with national HSE clinical guidelines to ensure safe, high-quality care. (gov.ie)

What Conditions Can Be Treated?

Under the Common Conditions Service, our pharmacists can assess and treat:

  • Allergic Rhinitis (hay fever)
  • Cold Sores
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Impetigo
  • Oral Thrush
  • Shingles
  • Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
  • Vaginal Thrush (HSE.ie)

If appropriate, your pharmacist may prescribe medication during your consultation, meaning you can begin treatment without needing to wait for a GP appointment. (HSE.ie)

Who Can Use This Service?

Eligibility for the service depends on:

  • Your age
  • Your symptoms
  • Your medical history
  • Whether the condition is suitable for pharmacy treatment

For example:

  • Hay fever: age 2+
  • Conjunctivitis: from 6 months
  • Impetigo: from 2 months
  • Shingles: 18+
  • Uncomplicated UTIs in women: age 16–64
  • Vaginal Thrush: age 16–60 (HSE.ie)

Our pharmacist will advise if this service is suitable for you or if a GP referral is required.

How Does It Work?

You can:

✔ Call into the pharmacy and request a consultation
✔ Speak to a member of our team

Consultations are carried out in a private consultation room.

A consultation fee applies, and we will always inform you of the cost before your appointment. If medication is prescribed, it may be covered under the Drugs Payment Scheme or your Medical Card.
